Chiefs Faceoff Against Silverbacks Friday Night

By Ryleigh Mulvihill

This Friday, the Chilliwack Chiefs will face the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in their only meeting this season.

Salmon Arm has won two games in a row to improve their record to 8-5-0. Chilliwack has won four of their last six to better their record to 6-8-1 within a talented Coastal division.

The Silverbacks have struggled on the road so far this season, winning only two of seven games played. This is a solo game in the Fraser Valley before heading back up the highway while the Chiefs are in the midst of a four-game homestand.

The game will feature many NCAA commits, including newly committed Brian Morse. In his second season with the Chiefs, the Fresno, CA native has put up 13 points as a defenceman. The 20-year-old will continue his hockey career for the Maine Black Bears. For now, Morse will look to extend his three-game point streak on Friday and get the Chiefs their first win on home ice.

Silverbacks forward JJ Monteiro will be a player the Chiefs will want to keep off the scoreboard. Monteiro has 11 points as a rookie this season and is averaging 0.85 points per game. The Providence College commit has made his presence known on the Silverbacks roster.

The Chiefs will host their annual Remembrance Day game presented by Joint Force Tactical. The pre-game ceremonies include two army cadets from the 1725 Chilliwack Army Cadets and eight members of the Chilliwack Legion’s Branch 295 Colour Guard. Sardis Secondary School trumpet player Faro Affleck will perform during the ceremony.

Veteran Mike Boughner will drop the puck.

All Veterans will be granted free entry into the game.
