Chiefs Make a Pair of Moves

The Chilliwack Chiefs have acquired 2003-born forward Willyam Gendron in exchange for Dylan Kinch.

Gendron is in his second season with the Clippers, and has combined for 70 points (31 G, 39 A) in 75 BCHL games played. The Boisbriand, Quebec product is committed to Sacred Heart University.

“It’s hard to pass up an opportunity to land a point per game player just returning from being a part of the league’s All-Star weekend. Willyam will not only add a scoring threat, but with his pace of play, he should complement nicely into our group,” said Chiefs General Manager and Head Coach Brian Maloney. “We’re extremely excited to add Willyam to our group but sad to see Kinch go, and we wish him all the best. He was loved in our locker room.”

Kinch, a 2004-born forward, is also in his second BCHL season. In a Chiefs uniform, Kinch netted 46 points in 84 games.

“You have to give up a really good player to get one back. This one’s close to me, as I’ve known Dylan since he was seven years old and am really close with the family,” said Maloney. “I at least feel good about sending him to a winning team where they really wanted him.”

In another move, Maloney announced that Cole Savage will join the EHL’s Worcester Railers Junior Hockey Club.

“Cole Savage is a Chief through and through, but we found an opportunity for him to go and play some games and be a starter before he heads off to university,” Maloney continued. “Not only is this great for his development, but it’s a fantastic life experience where he gets to opportunity a part of the world that he might not be able to later in life. He’ll be missed, but we’re excited for him.”

Thank you, Cole and Dylan, for your dedication and commitment to the community of Chilliwack, both on and off the ice.
