Chiefs 4 Smoke Eaters 3

Ryan Miotto was the hero, scoring his third of the season with 3:12 left in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and give the Chiefs a 4-3 victory over the visiting Trail Smoke Eaters Sunday afternoon at Prospera Centre.

The win is the second straight for the Chiefs who improve to 3-5-1-1.

Goals earlier in the third period by Harrison Blaisdell (2) and Tommy Lee with his second of the game had given the Chiefs a 3-1 lead but penalty trouble led to Trail goals by Levi Glasman and Seth Barton and a 3-3 hockey game.

Ross Armour had given the Smoke Eaters a 1-0 first period lead with his league leading tenth marker of the season. Lee’s first of the night with nine seconds left in the second tied the game at one.

Mathieu Caron earned the win for Chilliwack, making 24 saves.

The Chiefs are in Coquitlam Wednesday before returning home for a pair of home games next weekend versus the Powell River Kings (Friday) and the Coquitlam Express (Saturday).
