Austin Peters Commits to University of Maine

The Chilliwack Chiefs are proud to announce that Austin Peters has committed to play NCAA hockey at the University of Maine.

Peters is in his first BCHL season after spending two seasons in the MJHL.

“This is a perfect example of what our league is all about—bringing in really good hockey players, putting them in a good league where the competition is competitive every single night,” said Chiefs Head Coach and General Manager Brian Maloney. “Austin has come here from another league where he was over a point a game. He was top 10 in scoring and still wasn’t drawing the interest from schools he deserved. Within two weeks of being here, he’s had multiple schools and offers.”

The Winnipeg product has suited up for eight games in a Chiefs uniform so far this season, earning three assists. Already Peters is a fan favourite, often showing off his speed.

“He now has a chance to play for an outstanding University with a well-established coaching staff in a winning tradition. We are very excited for him,” said Maloney.

“I’m super grateful for such a great school to take a chance on me and give me this opportunity. I would also like to give a special thanks to the Chiefs organization for giving me the resources and tools to make a goal like this come true,” said Peters.

Congratulations Austin!
