Weekend Review

Despite a good defensive effort over the course of two weekend games, the Chiefs offense struggled, scoring just twice as the team dropped games in Wenatchee and Penticton.

Friday in Wenatchee, the Chiefs spotted the Wild a 3-0 lead just past the midway mark of the second period on goals by Jared Christy, Josh Arnold, and Sam Morton.

Power play goals by Jared Turcotte (5) and newcomer Marcus Tesink (1) got the Chiefs to within one with just under four minutes gone in the third, but that’s as close as the Chiefs would get.

Lucas Sowder finished the scoring with an empty netter with one second left.

Daniel Chenard started the game in goal for Chilliwack, allowing three goals on 22 shots. Mathieu Caron stopped all 15 shots he saw in relief.

Saturday in Penticton, the Chiefs managed just 13 shots on goal, all of which were stopped by goaltender Adam Scheel.

Chenard went the distance in goal for Chilliwack, allowing goals to Jared Nash and Dakota Boutin while making 22 saves.

Tommy Lee, Bryan Allbee, and Wyatt Elmer missed both games due to injury. Captain Will Calverley missed Saturday’s game.

Chilliwack returns to home ice for games against Surrey Wednesday and Coquitlam Friday.
