Chiefs on home ice for 3 games this Family Day weekend

By Jessica Peters : The Chilliwack Progress

The Chilliwack Chiefs will hit the home ice for three games this Family Day weekend, with games on Feb. 16, 17 and 19.

The team has won six of their last seven games and now battling for second place in the Coastal Conference.

This weekend’s games start at 7 p.m. Friday (Feb. 16) against Coquitlam Express. Last weekend, the Chiefs and Coquitlam met twice, with one win and one loss.

Saturday night at 6 p.m., the team will face off against Powell River Kings. The two teams haven’t met up since November, with the Chiefs winning all three games.

Then on Monday at 2 p.m. they’ll battle the Cowichan Valley Capitals. The Chiefs have only played the Capitals twice this season, with a loss in January and a win in October.

It’s going to be a fun weekend in the stands, too. Friday is SPCA Night, and River the dog is dropping the puck and Michelle Bernath will sing the anthem. The Tim Bits will be on the ice in the first intermission, and the Chuck a Puck is back for the second.

On Saturday, it’s Hope Night, with Hope’s mayor Victor Smith on the red carpet and Hope’s own Time Larson singing the anthem. The Junior Chiefs will take to the ice during intermission.

And for Family Day’s game, a family skate will take place after the game. Bring your own skates or rent a pair for $5. Kids who attend get a voucher for Boston Pizza. Scarlett Giesbrecht will perform the anthem on Monday, and the first intermission will have the battle of the Chilliwack mascots.
