Chiefs Head to Powell River for Back to Back Against the Kings

To continue the three-game set against the Powell River Kings, the Chilliwack Chiefs will head to Hap Parker Arena this weekend. This will be the second consecutive weekend with back-to-back games for the Chiefs.

Chilliwack beat the Kings 5-4 on Saturday night at the Coliseum. If the first game was any indication, the last two will be hard-hitting, fast, and tight hockey games.

The game-winner for the Chiefs came with 46 seconds left in the contest, handing Powell River their 6th loss in a row. With two close games going in their favour this past weekend, the Chiefs will be confident heading to the coast.

Chilliwack has enjoyed production from their defenceman as of late. Seven points have come from the Chiefs “D” core in the last two games. Lucas Sorace, Olivier Beaulieu, and Brian Morse had two points, while Trey Patterson has one.

That core is about to become stronger when newly acquired Jack Sparkes plays in a Chiefs jersey for the first time. Expect the defenceman to be in the lineup this weekend where he can hopefully add a few points of his own in this already thriving defenceman group.

The Chiefs will need to keep their legs fresh to keep up with a quick Powell River club. Although Chilliwack was victorious, there were a few close calls on Saturday when the Kings forwards took off down the ice, leaving Chilliwack to scramble.

All but two players on the Kings have recorded points this season. Even though it may not look like it in the standings, the roster is deep and dangerous. Chilliwack had to work for their win, and they will have to do it again if they want to continue their two-game win streak.

Puck drop is 7 pm in Powell River on both Friday and Saturday nights. Watch live on FloHockey.
