Chiefs 7 Powell River Kings 4

Craig Puffer scored three times to help lead the Chiefs to a 7-3 home ice victory over the Powell River Kings Saturday night.

The Chiefs finished the pre season with a perfect 4-0-0-0 record.

The Kings led 2-0 just past the six minute mark of the first period on goals  by Wes St. Amond and Nick Nonis. The Chiefs tied it briefly on goals by Puffer and Vincent Desharnais before Curtis McCarrick gave the Kings a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes.

It was all Chilliwack after that. In the second period Puffer completed the hat trick before Tipper Higgins and Jake Larson added last minute goals to give the Chiefs a 6-3 lead after two periods.

Jesse Lansdell scored the only goal of the third period to make the final 7-3.

Mitchell Datz went the distance in goal for the Chiefs making 26 saves. Stefan Wornig and Chilliwack native Dawson Rodin split the goaltending duties for the Kings facing a combined 47 shots.

Chilliwack finished the night 3/5 on the power play and were a perfect 4/4 on the penalty kill.
