Chiefs 4 Express 2

Ryan Miotto scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season to help lead the visiting Chiefs to a 4-2 win over the Coquitlam Express Friday.

The win was the third straight for the Chiefs who improved their season record to 16-13-2-2.

The loss drops the Express to 5-22-1-2.

After a scoreless first period in which the Chiefs outshot the Express 5-4, Coquitlam opened the scoring on Josh Wildauer’s 5th of the season with just under six minutes gone in the middle period.

After Miotto tied the game at one, goals by Captain Will Calveryley and Regan Kimens gave the Chiefs a 3-1 lead after forty minutes.

In the third Miotto made it 4-1 before the Express got a last minute goal from Doug Scott to round out the scoring.

Daniel Chenard had another strong game in goal for the Chiefs, stopping 26 shots.

Chilliwack native Clay Stevenson made 20 saves for the Express.

The Chiefs finished 1/4 on the power play and 6/6 on the penalty kill.

Chilliwack returns to action Saturday when they host the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. It’s the annual Teddy Bear / Toque Toss Night. Fans are encouraged to throw a new stuffed animal or toque on to the ice after the Chiefs score their first goal of the game. All animals and toques will be donated to Chilliwack Community Services.
