Chiefs 4 Express 1

Will Calverley had a goal and two assists and goaltender Mathieu Caron made 27 saves to help lead the Chiefs to a 4-1 win in Coquitlam Wednesday night.

The win was the third straight for the Chiefs who improved to 4-5-1-1.

Chiefs forward Tommy Lee’s power play goal midway through the first period was the game’s only goal through the first forty minutes. The goal was Lee’s fifth of the season.

Defenseman Matt Slick scored what proved to be the winner with just 17 seconds gone in the third period.

Two and a half minutes later Will Lawrence got the Express on the board with a power play marker but that’s as close as the Express would come.

Calverley’s sixth of the season on the power play made it 3-1 before Regan Kimens’ first BCHL goal on the power play with 17 seconds left finished the scoring.

The Chiefs return to home ice with a pair of home games this weekend. Friday night they host the Island Division leading Powell River Kings before the Express visit Prospera Centre Saturday. Both games start at 7pm.
