Teddy Bear / Toque Toss tonight

Tonight's Program

Chilliwack Chiefs (16-9-0-1) vs Trail Smoke Eaters (5-19-1-3)

Friday December 9th Prospera Centre

7pm

The Chilliwack Chiefs Annual Teddy Bear and Toque Toss will take place this Friday December 9th when the Chiefs host the Trail Smoke Eaters.

Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or a toque to throw on the ice

when the Chiefs score their first goal of the game. (Quick trivia question, who scored the goal to set off the first Chiefs Teddy Bear Toss in 1998? Answer at end of article). All bears and toques collected will be donated to Chilliwack Community Services. If you have stuffed animals and toques and are trying to decide which to bring, go with the toques as Community Services is a little short on those right now.

The Chiefs are looking for their fourth straight win tonight when they host the Trail Smoke Eaters.

Chilliwack is coming off a 2-1 home ice victory over the Merritt Centennials Wednesday. Mitch Gillam was named the game’s first star for a 40 save performance.

The Chiefs are in third place in the Interior Conference with 33 points and are now just three points back of the second place Merritt Centennials with three games in hand. The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the playoffs.

The Smoke Eaters are in eighth place in the conference with 14 points. Trail has dropped three straight including an 8-3 setback in Vernon last night.

Tonight’s game is the fourth meeting of the season between the Chiefs and Smoke Eaters. The Chiefs have one each of the first three games by scores of 4-3(OT), 6-3 and 2-1.

Trivia answer: Jamie Weiss.
