A new centre-ice video screen will be installed at Prospera Centre on Thursday, according to Prospera Centre general manager Glen Ringdal.
The previous video board had been installed by the Chilliwack Bruins when the Western Hockey League team moved into Prospera five years ago. It was removed this spring when the team departed for Victoria.
"We have a full television production system ready to take advantage of the new screen," said Ringdal.
The price tag, he said, is in excess of $250,000.
The arena's middling sound system is also getting a boost.
"The quality has been less than quality in recent years so we're going to upgrade and repair it," said Ringdal. "We want to get better sound to all the seating areas and the seats."
Ringdal said speakers are also being repositioned to allow for better sound at floor/ice level.
"There was virtually no coherent sound on the floor," he noted.
That, he said, should make for a better experience for trade shows, ice users and others on the ground.
