The Chiefs and Centennials meet for the seventh time this season tonight at Prospera Centre. Merritt leads the season series with a record of 5-1-0-0.
The Chiefs are coming off a 5-2 loss in Westside Wednesday night. Despite the loss they remain tied with the Prince George Spruce Kings for third place in the Interior Conference with 47 points. Chilliwack has one game in hand on the Spruce Kings. The Vernon Vipers are six points back in fifth place with one game in hand on Chilliwack. The top four teams in the Conference will qualify for the playoffs.
The Centennials who are coming off a 9-0 home ice loss to the Penticton Vees Wednesday are all alone in second place in the Interior with 59 points, 12 points up on the Chiefs and Spruce Kings and 19 points back of the first place Vees.
The Chiefs will be without leading scorer Derek Huisman for tonight’s game and tomorrows contest vs the Trail Smoke Eaters. Huisman picked up a major penalty and automatic two game suspension for checking from behind in Wednesday’s game.
