Tonight, the Chiefs played their third and final preseason game at home to cap off the weekend against last year‘s Fred Page Cup champions, the Surry Eagles.

The opening period was dominated by Chilliwack outshooting their opponents 14 to 3. Once again, #14 Savin Virk found the back of the net for the fourth time in three preseason games.

The Eagles scored their 1st goal in the second period after the Chiefs turned the puck over at the top of the offensive zone. That sent Jackson Anderson on a breakaway to beat the Chiefs’ Goaltender, Sebastian Gatto, five-hole.

Each team traded goals in the third, Chiefs Brady Milburn struck first with an unassisted goal off an Eagles turnover. The equalizer for the Eagles was scored by Ryan White, forcing the game to overtime.

The story of the 10-minute overtime period was a goal by Caleb Malhotra. And what a goal it was. Malhotra possessed the puck, gained speed through the neutral zone heading into Eagles territory, split their defence pair and made a miraculous effort to shoot the puck top corner, while playing from his knees. A highlight reel goal is one of many ways to describe Malhotra’s overtime heroics. Chiefs have found themselves twice now playing in overtime in preseason play and both times the Chiefs rookie, Caleb Malhotra, has come up with the game-winner.

What a great way for the Chiefs to cap off their 3-0 preseason games!
