Bowen the overtime hero in Surrey

Ryan Bowen’s goal with fifty seconds left in the first overtime period gave the Chiefs a 3-2 win in Surrey Monday afternoon. The win was the third straight for the Chiefs who are now in a three way tie for second place in the mainland division.

The Chiefs led 2-0 after twenty minutes on goals by Matt Slick (4) and Regan Kimens (9).

After a scoreless second period the Eagles forced overtime with third period goals by John Wesley and Jeffrey Stewart.

Mathieu Caron made 23 saves to earn his 17th win of the season. Surrey netminder Daniel Davidson turned away 30 Chiefs shots in a losing effort.

The Chiefs were 1/4 on the power play and 6/6 on the penalty kill.

The Chiefs, Eagles, and Langley Rivermen all have 56 points in the battle for spots two through four in the division. The Chiefs and Rivermen each have six games remaining while the Eagles have just five.

The Chiefs next action is Friday night when they host the Merritt Centennials. They will then travel to Alberni Saturday and Powell River on Sunday.
