The Prince George Spruce Kings used a three goal third period to erase a 1-0 deficit to defeat the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs 3-1 in game seven of their first round playoff series Sunday.
The Chiefs could not have asked for better start in this one.
With Spruce Kings forward Ethan De Jong serving a minor for tripping, PJ Marrcco took a return pass from Corey Andonovski as he neared the Spruce Kings slot area and wristed his second of the playoffs past Kings goaltender Evan DeBrouwer.
The lead held until the 11:02 mark of the third period.
With the Chiefs on the power play, Kings forward Ben Brar created a turnover at his own blue line, springing Ethan De Jong on a shorthanded breakaway. De Jong made no mistake, beating Chiefs goaltender Daniel Chenard for his third goal of the series.
Eighty two seconds later, with the Chiefs still on their heels, Kings defenseman Jay Keranan put the Kings up for good.
An empty net goal by Brar in the game’s final minute rounded out the scoring.
