Chiefs shutout Bulldogs 5-0

Mathieu Caron was perfect, turning away 19 shots to earn his first BCHL shutout as the Chiefs defeated the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 5-0 in Port Alberni Saturday night.

With the win, along with the Langley Rivermen defeating the Penticton Vees Saturday, the Chiefs, Rivermen and Surrey Eagles are tied for spots two through four in the mainland division with 58 points in 54 games.

Five different goal scorers paced the Chiefs to the win in Alberni.

The Chiefs led 1-0 after one on a goal by Jake Gresh.

In the second, a shorthanded marker by Jared Turcotte put the Chiefs up 2-0 before goals by Ryan Bowen and Regan Kimens in the final moments of the period gave the Chiefs a 4-0 lead after forty minutes.

Harrison Blaisdell scored the lone goal of the game’s final period.

The Chiefs are in Powell River Sunday afternoon. Game time is 1:30pm.
