Chiefs edge Rivermen 3-2 in key division battle

Harrison Blaisdell scored the only goal of the third period to break a 2-2 tie and give the Chiefs a 3-2 win over the visiting Langley Rivermen Saturday.

The Chiefs (22-18-2-3) remain in fourth place in the mainland division but moved to within five points of the third place Rivermen (21-15-10-2) with three games in hand.

Chilliwack scored the only two goals of the opening period.

Ryan Bowen scored his third goal in his sixth game back with the Chiefs on the power play to put the Chiefs up 1-0.

Skyler Brind’Amour’s 10th of the season just after a power play ended upped the Chiefs lead to two.

Langley goals by Sean Gulka and Brendan Budy on the power play evened the score at two after forty minutes.

Mathieu Caron earned the win for Chilliwack, turning away 14 shots.

Braedon Fleming made 25 saves in a losing effort.

Both teams scored once in six power play opportunities.

Chilliwack is back on home ice Sunday afternoon at 2pm when they host the division leading Prince George Spruce Kings. The Chiefs are seven points back of the Kings with three games in hand.
